well, to say the least, this last week has been a challenge! hunter has been suffering from the croup and on top of that- roid rage. the doctor put him on a steroid to help clear up this nasty bout he's been going through. oh, wow! i've been having flash backs to when cheyne (my little brother) was sick with leukemia and he was on predizone. mom- i'm sorry!!!!! hunter only has to be on it for 5 days, but i can't even imagine 3 years. how did you not strangle the kid???? to give the rest of you a little idea what my week has been like here are a FEW things that have gone down.
preschool drop off...
monday we were driving to preschool and hunter wanted to listen to 'wheels on the bus'. so i popped it in the cd player and we were all singing (i know- scary thought- be glad you didn't have to listen to it!) and suddenly hunter was freaking out. when i say freaking i mean ear curdling screaming mixed with arms flailing about and major head slashing. i pulled the car over after about 30 seconds of this (it seamed like much longer) to figure out what in the world was wrong... when he finally calmed down i figured out the problem. the cd didn't sing 'the people on the bus stand up and down' enough times. yup- you read that right, not enough times for my little 'roid'.
costco...
i decided to brave costco after dropping kamryn off at preschool that morning. hunter cried all night and morning for 'berries'. the doc shared blueberries with him when he checked him out on sunday and hunter was ready for more and i have been dying for costco's huge, juicy, yummy strawberries. hunter was doing so well. he picked out loads of fruit and then he saw IT. an ice cream bucket size 7-layer bean dip. it was massive! he needed it. NOW! when i tried to tell him that there was no way on this earth we could possibly eat the whole thing as a family before it went bad. he slapped me. right across the mouth. yes, slap... i wish i had a picture of his face when he realized what he had just done. 'sorry mama, sorry, sorry, i no mean to mama, sorry mama....' if i wasn't trying my darnedest not laugh i might have gotten angry, but it was too comical!
cleaning the pantry....
i decided i was going to need to clean out my pantry and my fridge if i was going to have a place to put everything i bought at costco. i was in the process of this- food all over the counters and kitchen table- old boxes and bags of food that needed to be tossed sitting next to the fridge- and in comes hunter. he took one look at the mess in the kitchen and he threw himself on the floor in a rage. kicking, screaming, fist pounding rage. i picked him up and calmly (truly- i really was calm) asked him what was wrong. he wanted to sit up to the table and watch mommy, but the kitchen was too messy for his liking. it took over an hour to calm him down.
those are just a small glimpse into what our week has been like. i know heavenly father has been standing by my side all week giving me the patience i need. most days i would have been waiting in my car for jeff to get home from work so i could escape asap, but when he got home i was happy and laughing at everything that was going on. maybe i truly have gone a little nuts- but hey- i'm not in the loony bin yet!!!!
excuse these 'awesome' pictures. there was so much flailing about i couldn't get any to turn out semi clear. you get the picture, though. here is my sweet hunter doing what he has perfected in the last 3 days...

oh i hope little hunter boy feels better soon..that's not like him at all.
oh poor little fella! I hope he feels better
Haley, you seriously crack me up. Whenever I need a laugh all I have to do is read your blog. I can't wait to get together. I'm sorry that hunter isn't feeling well but he gave me a good laugh. love the picts. by the way it's mare.
Poor little guy, and poor Haley. Jake has the exact opposite reaction to roids. He bounces off the walls, excited, hyper, happy. Not so good when they can't breathe though.
haley, and you wonder WHY i'm crazy?
