we headed to old faithful next. kamryn announced she had to pee NOW and we were still about 3 minutes to the parking lot. as soon as we parked i jumped out of the car and grabbed her and ran to find the potty leaving jeff, kenzie, hunter and kate with jeff. we RAN, we saw the signs for the potty and also all the people sitting on the benches waiting for old faithful to go off. CRAP!!! i was sure we were with in minutes of the event and i asked kamryn if she could wait 5 minutes... NOPE!!! so we ran down the hall towards the bathroom. it was in sight... and the flood gates opened. she didn't make it to the potty. so being the wonderful mom that i am... i lost it! i was a little upset, but then when we walked out the building i realized not only did we miss the potty, we missed old faithful!!!!!!!! and that's when MY temper tantrum started. i'd been in the car with kids too long, i was smelling pee pants, and i either had to make the family wait another 90 minutes to witness old faithful or miss it completely and be pissy the rest of the trip and mad at kamryn cause i blamed her. and that was my attitude. yup- i totally deserve mother and wife of the year. jeff told me i'd missed it and i bit his head off. i was near tears... i know... it's just old faithful- but i don't remember it from my trip 23yrs ago... and i wanted to see it!!!! i'd been in the car all day with kids and a million potty stops and i was NOT happy! and it showed!
and then to my relief... the rest of our caravan had missed it too. jeff, kate, kenzie, and hunter were only 4 of 15... so yeah for me (and for kamryn)... we were staying the 90 minutes to see old faithful erupt. here is how we spent the next 90 minutes...
the wait was worth it, although the i don't think my temper tantrum was. thankfully, my sweet hubby and child forgave me.
the sunset was gorgous on our way back to the cabin!!!
